ABOUT THE FILM
Part of a larger Bell Bajao or Ring the Bell campaign against domestic violence, KNOCK KNOCK, WHO’S THERE? is a call to action that shatters the silence around domestic violence by provoking audiences, particularly men, to step up and bring the violence to a halt.
According to the 2005-2006 National Family Health Survey conducted by the Government of India, one out of every three woman faces violence behind closed doors. When Breakthrough conducted its own survey in 2008 in select areas across India, it revealed that even though domestic violence is still considered a private affair, there were instances when neighbors took action, most of whom were men.
And so was born the Bell Bajao, or Ring the Bell, campaign - a 360 degree media campaign created pro bono by Ogilvy and Mather, with TV and radio spots, print ads, mobile video vans and an online campaign. To date, 48 million people have seen the campaign through partners including the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the Government of India, Star TV, 9X Network, Zoom TV, Times Now, Sony TV and ETV. Popular Bollywood actor Boman Irani is the brand ambassador and face of the campaign.
