ABOUT THE FILM

More about Will I Be Next? from Director Ralph Rollins

Will I Be Next? explores the issue of gun violence in Chicago. Five established experts and numerous young people were interviewed for their perspective on this complex and incredibly troubling problem. The Field Foundation of Illinois commissioned and funded Free Spirit Media to lead the production of the film.

Students from Free Spirit Media’s Advanced Video Production class at North Lawndale College Prep Charter High School identified themes, conducted interviews, filmed, designed the sound track, and edited the footage.

Will I Be Next? is a call to action to the Illinois legislature, community members, families and young people to stand up for safety and to be courageous enough to work with others to keep Chicago’s streets safe. All parties involved in the making of this film are deeply hopeful that Will I Be Next? will serve to raise awareness and motivate action against gun violence and the destruction it imposes on society.
