I thought it was an interesting and thought provoking film that raises a number of issues re colour/race/nationality/identity and self esteem. I couldn't help thinking that both parents had issues around their own identity that they needed to resolved and that they needed to find peace within themselves. In doing so there be better equipped to provide their son balance in a society that is so out of balance.

Parents should always be chief educators, thus hoping that societies views may change in their sons lifetime although idealistic may not be realistic. What you are as an individual, you become as a parent I encourage the parents to deal with their own 'self' issues and be highly esteemed in who they are, such qualities they can them pass to their son. Lastly ignorance is not bliss and the facts remain that if you listen to a lie long enough you will think it is true. All shades our beautiful including dark black and their is nothing wrong with an afro and having features that do not fit the popular cultures ideologies around beauty –. although one can laugh about such issues there are underlying issues that aren’t so funny which cause many people to self harm in a variety of different ways as well as reject/deny who they are and accept wrong labels and conform in ways which are unnecessary.

Contrary to ignorant opinion not everyone in Africa is jumping up and down with spears, living in mud huts and is poor. I found your clip of this and moreover your remarks around the clip both insulting and disrespectful. You may indeed associate yourself more with America than Africa however your heritage is still African and you should not be ashamed of your genetic makeup. Please seek truth instead of settling for what societies tell you..

All people are beautifully and wonderfully made and their are no favorites in divine Kingdoms.

As a tree with out roots is unstable so is a person. I'd encourage you both to seek greate awareness of your own heritage and then your partners and finally other cultures also, your be more grounded and have a greater appreciation of others also.
