I just found the festival website today. This is the third film I have watched and each one blows me away even more than the last. I am afraid that if I watch them all, my head will explode. Thanks to you and all the other film makers for expanding my awareness in such a fantastic way.

I find it quite interesting that on a casual forum that my apparent inability to type grammatically, according to Rick, would reduce the validity of my argument. I also don’t agree that anybody is far past hopeless…the goal behind the media that matters project is to educate and share experiences with others. It is about learning and seeing new things. Also everyone is entitled to his/her own beliefs/interpretations and if that is how they viewed the film then that is as valid as my thoughts or anybody else’s

Other than Felicia Adams, Monique deJongh, and lena, all of the above comments are near subhuman intelligence. Lisa and Monique were the only ones who managed to type a response with no grammatical errors. Racism wasn't the point of this film. Bernard, Tony, Rudy, Hollie Subrina, and Malika need to think a little bit harder about the film and watch it again. That probably won't work though, you're far past hopeless.

I had a different interpitation... I dont think that it is racist I believed that the filmmaker was trying to show how the media can manipulate things to produce a totally different outcome. None of these kids said racist things but when cut and edited they peiced together a totally different picture.... This happens a lot throuughout our media especially within news. They (big media corporations) have their own agenda and do whatever it takes to get what they want to get across although it may stray far from the truth.
I thought this film was great!

I found this film to be very interestig because it shows how strongly racial discrimination exist. This film shows that children observe everything around them and follow what they see on TV or hear from their parents.Children are born innocent, not racist so u can't be mad at them for saying anything. It all depends on how they are brought up.You just have to teach them the right things and let them know that racism is a horrible thing and everyone should be treated equally

This film was one the most oustanding. It caught my attention to see how children are being used to describe the hatred amongst the different races. It conveys a theme of disrespect in the societies of black, arabs, mexican and chinese people. It was a nice film to watch but the intentions of the film is very crude in my opinion.

Wow! I have no other words... Just Wow...

To rebuttle what was said by Rudy Thompson,I think that it is contradictive. If he says that he likes what is being said in the film then why does he say that it is hurtful as well. So are you a person that likes to hurt peoples feelings I did not get what he was talking about. Yes I do agree that kids need a positive role model to look up to,But this person is not the guy and they way you say that he is wrong is correct. Though you should not say that you like something then say that it is totally ubsurd.

I like what Bernard Isreal, commented on the (Hate) Machine. It is very disrespectful and hurtful to hear someone talkin about another race to their kids. Kids need a positive mind set when their growing up not a racist mind set.

I hate the (Hate) Machine cause, I think it deals with prejudicious. It isn't right to tell kids bad stuff about another race, their often to tell their class mates. Even though some races need to go back to their country or they do cause problems for a economic and emploment reason why. The same thing that American say something about another race they are saying the same thing.

Fantastic short! Can you edit a "pro" ethnic short using the same exact footage?

The contrast of the two resulting shorts would speak volumes!

Thanks,
Monique deJongh

This short to me is bascially about hating on arabs, mexicans, blacks and I think the chinease. Not one single word was said about whites which I think if your going to speak negetivly about one race, something should be said about all of them since no single race is perfect. Yes, things are changing fast around here more people are moving in and out of here every single day. It is not only the blacks, arabs, chinease, and mexicans fault for moving in because white people move in just like everyone else does. So, if someone gets blamed for things going too fast, it should be everyone.

I HATE this film. I find it very disrespectful, discusting and hurtful. I feel this way because of the way they used the children to make the film. I HATE IT!!!!!

I personaly favored the "(Hate) Machine" short film out of the three that I viewed. This short film in particular was more creative when trying to get their message out about the media and society itself. It actually relates back to the business world when you think about it. Reason being is simply because based on a certain type of enviornment socialy, sellers usually make their products seem to work one way when in fact it does nothing of what is described. As in the video, the children were comminting on their family, school, what they like to do, and where they would like to go; but with the finished product you didn't hear any of those commints because each was broken up into pieces. It all comes down to the finished product, what's going to sell and what's not going to sell. Overall I enjoyed watching the short film of the "(Hate) Machine."
