ABOUT THE FILM

We stand on the brink of a human-induced climate catastrophe, and are rapidly approaching “tipping points” beyond which it will be virtually impossible to reverse climate change. Already devastating effects of climate change are evident, including drought, wildfires, flooding, heat waves, severe storm events, ocean acidification, sea level rise and species extinction. At this year’s Planet Under Pressure conference in London, scientists emphasized that we are in “the critical decade,” and soon thresholds will be crossed that will make climate impacts irreversible. Children and future generations have the most at stake, as they could inherit a planet harsher than we could imagine. Helping young people bear witness to the world is one of the critical starting points for redress. Policy and law are essential, but alone are not nearly as compelling in moving people to act as are stories of youth affected by climate change and afraid for their futures. This is why we are empowering youth voice through legal action, film and activism. Their story is urgently relevant to a nation that has not come to grips with what its fossil fuel use means for future generations, and what government is really all about: protecting our shared essential natural resources, human lives, and liberties.
